Mielenforst Castle (Köln)

The origins of Mielenforst date back to 1196, when Konrad de Milinvorst was mentioned as a seneschal of the Count of Berg. A noble family of Milenvorst is documented since the 13th century. In the 15th century, the property reverted to the Counts of Berg. After being pledged in 1596, it came into the possession of the von Steinen family at the end of the 17th century, who had a new manor house built in 1711 and held the estate until 1774. After a period as a domain, it was acquired in 1822 by notary Dr. Friedrich Hohenschutz. In 1882, industrialist Paul Andreae bought the estate and had the current manor house built in the Neo-Renaissance style by 1885.
