Mittelneufnach Castle

In 1403, the burgstall on the surrounding hamlet, where the current castle stands, was first mentioned in a document. In 1417, the Holy Spirit Hospital in Augsburg acquired all property rights for the village, including Buchhof, through a final settlement. The building was erected in 1515 and has stood in its current form since 1663. Until the dissolution of the German Empire in 1805/1806, it served as the seat of the Obervogt (chief bailiff) and was thus associated with lower jurisdiction. State and sovereign rights then passed to Bavaria (District Court of Türkheim). The building was later used as a district forest office for the city of Augsburg.

The administrative area of the Obervogt included the open land from Mittelneufnach, Scherstetten up to the village road. Reichertshofen partly belonged to the Counts Fugger Mickhausen and Princes Oettingen Wallerstein. The area then extended further, along the ridge to the north, Grimoldsried, Kelchsried, and up to the municipal boundary of Münster. Further possessions were located in the area of Langenneufnach.

The current small castle (Schlössle) was built in 1515 on the site, near the former Vogelburg, at least according to the cadastral name. In old cadastral maps and in common usage, there is another place called "beim Schlössle" (at the small castle). The plateau to the right of Könghauser Straße is located directly on the edge of the village.
