Mittelsohland Castle in Sohland has undergone various uses. It shapes the local landscape and now serves as a central hub for the community.

History+

The origins of the estate landscape in Sohland date back to around 1600, when five knightly estates existed in the region. The estate in Mittelsohland was added around 1700. Between 1638 and 1839, it was owned by the noble families von Gersdorf and von Uechtritz. A village fire in 1802 destroyed numerous buildings, including the Mittelsohland knightly estate. Subsequently, the then owners had a new castle built, which underwent renovation around 1900. After its expropriation in 1945, apartments were established within the castle.
