Mittelsohland Castle (Sohland)

Around 1600, five knightly estates (three in Obersohland and two in Niedersohland) are documented. Its owners between 1638 and 1839 were the noble families "von Gersdorf" and "von Uechtritz". Around 1700, the estate in Mittelsohland was added. In 1802, 18 buildings (including the Mittelsohland knightly estate, rectory, and school) fell victim to a large village fire. Subsequently, the then owners erected a new castle, which was renovated around 1900. After the expropriation in 1945, apartments were set up; today, the municipal office is located in the renovated castle.
