Mittergrabern Castle

The castle was expanded and rebuilt in 1536. In 1834, the tower and attic floor were removed, and the complex was extended in 1874 by adding two wings and a staircase at the rear. A restoration took place in 1986-87. Owners included the Lords of Roggendorf and the Count Waldstein family.

Exterior

The building is a four-story, plastered block with a hipped roof. The facades are structured by corner pilasters and cornices. The windows on the upper floors have profiled frames and straight gables. The main facade features a two-story bay window on consoles, topped by a balcony with a stone balustrade. The main entrance is designed as a portico with Tuscan columns and a balcony.

Interior

Inside, there is a spacious hall with a cross-vaulted ceiling. The ground floor rooms have barrel vaults, while the upper floors feature stucco ceilings from the 18th century. A grand staircase with a wrought-iron railing leads to the upper floors. The castle also houses a chapel with frescoes from the 17th century.

Today, the castle serves as a museum and event venue. It hosts various exhibitions, concerts, and cultural events. The premises can also be rented for private celebrations and corporate events. A café and a museum shop are also located in the castle.
