Molsberg Castle in the Westerwald district is a Baroque building with a history as a noble residence. It has served for centuries as the ancestral seat of a noble family and is surrounded by an extensive landscape garden.

History+

The origins of the current castle date back to 1030, when the Lords of Molsberg erected a castle on the Eichberg at this location. This fortification served to secure important trade routes, especially the Hohe Straße. The current Baroque castle was built on the same site. Since 1657, it has been the ancestral seat of the Counts of Walderdorff. A restoration of the Baroque castle chapel was honored in 2010 with a federal award for craftsmanship in monument preservation.
