Monplaisir Palace was built around 1700 by Philipp Wilhelm of Brandenburg-Schwedt. In 1778, Margrave Friedrich Heinrich had the palace rebuilt. In 1800, the structurally altered house became the residence of the court gardener, who is said to have operated a tavern here.
