Monplaisir Castle

Monplaisir Palace was built around 1700 by Philipp Wilhelm of Brandenburg-Schwedt. In 1778, Margrave Friedrich Heinrich had the palace rebuilt. In 1800, the structurally altered house became the residence of the court gardener, who is said to have operated a tavern here. Around 1830, the garden complex with a pheasantry, largely preserved to this day, was created. After 1888, Monplaisir became a popular excursion restaurant well into the 20th century. From 1990, the building's vacancy led to its decay. In 2005, the Preußischer Kulturverein Monplaisir e.V. became the owner of the house, with the goal of establishing a cultural and information center.
