Moosbrunn Castle

The origins of Moosbrunn Castle date back to 1538, when Hans Gerhab, the administrator of Vasoldsberg, converted an existing farmhouse, the “Wagnerhof,” into a castle. At the end of the 16th century, it was expanded by the Herbersdorfer family. In the 17th and 19th centuries, further alterations and extensions were made to the hook-shaped, two-story building with hipped gables. Owners included the Khuenberger family (from 1572) and the Herbersdorfer family (1575–1613), as well as the secretary Dr. Gottfried Beck. Although the complex began to decay from 1682, it was revitalized by 1735. From 1751, ownership changed hands frequently.
