Moosen Castle

The four-story cubic, tower-like building with a hip roof and a tall baroque chimney was built around 1620. Due to its use as a monastery, not much of the noble interior decoration has been preserved. The room height increases from floor to floor, from bottom to top. Directly attached to the south exterior wall is the large castle chapel, which has served as a filial church of the Schwindkirchen parish since the 19th century.

The castle was built by the noble Westacher family. Through marriage, the building came into the possession of Baron Karl Josef von Dichtl in 1722, due to the extinction of the Westacher male line. He sold it three years later to the Imperial Counts of Morawitzky, who owned it until 1813.
