In the village of Mosigkau, a district of Dessau-Roßlau, is Mosigkau Palace, a Rococo palace. It is one of the last fully preserved Rococo ensembles in Central Germany and is known for its historic park, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm.

History+

The construction of Mosigkau Palace took place between 1752 and 1757 as a summer residence. The patron was Princess Anna Wilhelmine of Anhalt-Dessau, the daughter of Prince Leopold I. A gift of land and a considerable apanage enabled her to realize this estate. The initial conceptual ideas are attributed to the architect Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff, while the construction management was carried out by the Dessau court architect Christian Friedrich Damm.
