Mühlenhof Castle (Altthymen)

The manor house Gut Mühlenhof (also called Schloss Mühlenhof) is a noble residence built in 1872 in Altthymen near Fürstenberg/Havel. It is a simple three-story plastered building.

From 1907, it belonged to Georg von Yorry, who was chamberlain to Grand Duke Adolph Friedrich V of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Four years later, Count Arthur von Bernstorff took over the Mühlenhof estate. He built the current manor house "Schloss Mühlenhof".

Arthur von Bernstorff used the manor house for hunting; during one such hunt, the Count's son had an accident in 1919.

In 1935, newspaper publisher Carl Maetschke bought the Mühlenhof and kept it until 1945. After the Second World War, the estate became land reform property and was then used as a children's sanatorium until 1965.

Then, from 1964 to 1990, it served as a "holiday property" for the ADN (Allgemeiner Deutscher Nachrichtendienst, the official GDR news agency).

With the political change, the holiday property came to an end. The current owner renovated the building and converted it into a holiday residence.
