Mühlhausen Castle
Mühlhausen Castle (Würm) is a former moated castle built from 1551-1553 in the Tiefenbronn district of Mühlhausen.
The three-story castle was built by Hans Dietrich von Gemmingen and his wife Magdalena Munprat von Spielberg as a moated castle. The castle stands freely within a ring wall with round towers. Of the round towers, only the northern one remains. This one shows the year 1552 on the inner lintel.
In 1823, Julius von Gemmingen assigned the castle to the new parish under Pastor Aloys Henhöfer as a rectory and teacher's residence. The half-timbering of the castle was exposed in 1930. A major renovation took place in 1964-1965, during which some parts were rebuilt and some extensions from 1551 and the 19th century were demolished. Stables and outbuildings are attached to the defensive wall, which were temporarily used as dwellings.
A barn building has been converted into a concert hall with a gallery since 1990.
