Mühlhausen Castle
The Palm'sche Schloss is located at Mönchfeldstraße 35 in the Mühlhausen district of the state capital Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg.
In 1711, the brothers Johann David (1657–1721), Jonathan (1671–1740) and Franz (1676–1742) Palm, who originated from Esslingen am Neckar and worked as bankers in Vienna, were elevated to the hereditary Imperial Knighthood, acquired the Mühlhausen manor, and were matriculated into the Swabian Imperial Knighthood. They were the progenitors of the House of Palm.
The current castle was built in 1813 for Jonathan Freiherr von Palm in the Neoclassical style on the foundations of the demolished old castle. Over time, the castle was rebuilt several times, received extensions around 1895, and has been a listed building since 1971.
In 1933, the city of Stuttgart acquired the castle, which today serves as the district town hall of the Mühlhausen district.
