Mützhof Castle

At the beginning of the 15th century, the Weins family owned a manor in Astenet, which they sold to Ulrich von Kettenis in 1435. On the occasion of the division in 1457, the estate located in Astenet fell to Gudula Crümmel. Through the marriage of her daughter to the owner of Mützhagen, Wilhelm van de Sand, the farm was then called "Mützhagenerhof", later "Mützhof" (1485). Around 1661, the farm buildings were rebuilt.

Through marriage on February 25, 1683, Johann Heyendal became the owner of Mützhof. The Heyendal family was probably the best-known and most famous family ever to have lived in Astenet. The male line of the Heyendal of Astenet died out on October 11, 1719.

The farm buildings date from the 17th century. In 1872, they burned down completely. In the 19th century, the manor house was added. On the south side there is an old park with trees that are partly centuries old. In a keystone of the garden gate there is a coat of arms with a spherical cross and the year 1661. Alfons Pesch bought the estate in 1928. The current owners, the Langohr-Pesch family, operated a restaurant with a guesthouse in the manor house from 1952 to 1959, which was popular with the spa guests from Astenet.
