Nebersdorf Castle

Nebersdorf Castle was owned by the Niezky family (rulers in Hungary) from 1446 to 1939/41. In that year, the Heller family acquired the castle with a garden of approx. 8 ha (forest), 2 manor farms, and a portion of arable land. The remaining arable land and forest were taken over by a "German Settlement Cooperative".

The municipality of Nebersdorf acquired the castle and one manor farm in 1952. Since the end of the 19th century, hardly any funds had been invested in the renovation of the castle, and subsequent owners, including the municipality of Nebersdorf, were not interested in the continued existence of the building. The municipality divided the garden area into building plots and sold them. The 200-year-old tree population was felled between 1954 and 1957.

Finally, the castle building was sold in 1959 to the innkeeper Rudolf Golubits, to whom the preservation of the castle is owed, as the building had long been threatened with demolition and its furnishings had already been partially reduced.
