Nedaschütz Castle

A manor house in Nedaschütz is already mentioned in 1318. In 1408, the estate is referred to as a knight's seat and from 1586 as a knight's estate. From 1720 to 1725, the castle was built on the walls of a predecessor building by the Lords of Wolffersdorff. The Wilthen manufacturer Albert Thomas (C. G. Thomas weaving mill) acquired the castle in 1918. In 1918, he had a figure-decorated porch placed in front of the entrance, which was intended to give the otherwise simple building a bit more grandeur. In addition to the existing staircases in both wings of the building, a wooden staircase was built from the entrance to the first floor. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists. After the reunification, the heirs waived their claims for restitution in favor of "Schloss Nedaschütz E.V.". After 2000, a restaurant was located in the impeccably preserved building. Since October 2007, the restaurant has been closed. Meanwhile, the castle houses Partyservice Bautzen, a catering company owned by Jan A. Fichte.
