Another sight is the Renaissance castle built by the Treusch von Buttlar family between 1592 and 1594. It is considered the most important Renaissance complex in the lower Werra region. In the 19th century, the castle passed to the Landgraves of Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld.
