Netzschkau Castle

Netzschkau Castle was constructed around 1490 on behalf of Caspar von Metzsch. It was designed as a representative residence, a departure from traditional, fortified castles. The Metzsch family sold it in 1578 to Christoph von Reibold. In 1616, Hans Ernst Bose acquired the property. His son Carol von Bose undertook renovations and expansions from 1626, including the addition of two more wings and a chapel. After the Bose family, the castle passed through various hands before coming into the possession of the Lords of Schönburg-Glauchau in the 19th century, who established an English-style castle park. In 1944, the city of Netzschkau acquired the castle.
