Forestry commission office

Neu-Dettingen Castle, also known as Burghof, is a historic structure on the southwestern shore of Lake Überlingen, near the Dettingen district of Konstanz. Originally an outer bailey, it was later transformed into a castle-like estate and now serves as a forestry office.

History+

The origins of Neu-Dettingen Castle date back to the late 12th century, when it was built by the Lords of Dettingen as an outer bailey for Alt-Dettingen Castle. After 1320, a renovation gave the structure a castle-like appearance. In 1642, the castle was damaged by fire. Around 1661, it was rebuilt, after which the property came into the possession of the Mainau Commandery of the Teutonic Order.
