Perched on an Umlaufberg high above the Enz river, Neuenbürg Castle stands as a historic edifice in Baden-Württemberg. Originally founded as a medieval fortress, it now presents itself as a Renaissance castle, drawing visitors with its history and cultural offerings.

History+

The origins of Neuenbürg Castle date back to the 11th century, when it was built by the Counts of Vaihingen. In 1320, the complex came into the possession of Count Eberhard I of Württemberg, who sought to secure the western border of his territory. Few traces of the original medieval castle remain today. Around 1550, Duke Christoph of Württemberg had the current castle built, intended as a residence for members of the ducal family.
