Neuenhagen Castle
Built around 1575, Neuenhagen Castle is a historic structure in the northern Oderbruch. It is now the oldest preserved secular building in this region, located in Neuenhagen, a district of Bad Freienwalde, and serves as a private residence and a venue for cultural events.
History+
The origins of Neuenhagen Castle date back to approximately 1575, when the von Uchtenhagen family had a new building erected on this site, replacing an older house. Following the end of the Uchtenhagen family's rule, the estate passed into the possession of the sovereign. It was subsequently used as the official residence for the newly established domain. In 1945, the then owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists. After World War II, the building underwent a simplified restoration.
