In Neuhaus am Inn, directly on the border with Austria, rises Neuhaus Castle. Its strategic location on the Inn riverbank makes it a testament to past eras.

History+

In the 14th century, the Bavarian dukes had the castle built on a rock to protect the important Inn bridge near Schärding. Between 1750 and 1752, the structure underwent a redesign in the Rococo style, possibly under the direction of master builder Johann Michael Fischer. The client for this baroque renovation was the Imperial Count Ferdinand von der Wahl, president of the court chamber.
