Die Burg Neuhaus
Neuhaus Castle near Ehrstädt is first mentioned in 1329. In 1333, Berthold von Massenbach received the castle and the village of Ehrstädt as a fief. After the Massenbach line of Neuhaus died out (1580), the fief passed to Christoph von Degenfeld. In 1594, the castle was demolished by Johann Christoph von Degenfeld and Neuhaus Palace was built on the foundations of the castle in 1596-97. In 1921, August von Degenfeld died and Herta von Gemmingen (née von Degenfeld) inherited the property. In 1963, ownership passed to her son Pleikard von Gemmingen and since 1993 to Michael von Gemmingen.
