The construction of Neuhaus Castle took place in 1791 under the patronage of George III. Initially designed as a residential and service building for the staff of the previously completed stud farm, it formed a rectangular complex with an inner courtyard, together with its outbuildings. George's youngest son, Adolphus Frederick, repeatedly used the estate for court hunts. The stud farm was known for breeding Isabella-colored horses for the Hanoverian royal stables. After the Prussian annexation, the castle served as a depot for remount horses for the Prussian army.
