Neumark Castle

Neumark Castle

To be privately owned

A predecessor castle was razed in 1354 during the Vogtland War. In 1478, ownership passed to Martin von Römer. In 1551, the estate was elevated to a knight's estate. In 1620, the estate was owned by Moritz Haubold von Schönberg, and in 1636, it was again owned by the von Römer family. The current castle was built after the destruction of the previous building in the Thirty Years' War. Until their forced expropriation and expulsion by the communists in 1945, the estate remained in the possession of the von Römer family.

After the expropriation, the estate served as a TB sanatorium and children's hospital. In 1994, the von Römer family bought the property back.
