In the municipality of Reith im Alpbachtal-Matzen in Tyrol, Austria, is Neumatzen Castle, also known as Lipperheide Castle. It is a historicist-style building constructed in the late 1880s.

History+

The creation of Neumatzen Castle is linked to the German publisher Franz von Lipperheide. After unsuccessful negotiations to acquire the nearby Matzen Castle, Lipperheide purchased a plot of land in its immediate vicinity. Through further acquisitions, he expanded his property and commissioned the architect Georg von Hauberrisser, known for Munich's City Hall, to design a new castle. The estate was completed in the late 1880s and served as a residence for Franz von Lipperheide and his wife Frieda. The couple was known for publishing fashion magazines in various languages and maintained residences in several European and North African cities.
