Neuses Castle

Schloss Neuses am Sand is a former moated castle in Neuses am Sand, a district of Prichsenstadt in the Kitzingen district (Lower Franconia in Bavaria). Since 1998, it has served as a wellness hotel and restaurant with an attached winery under the name Wörners Schloss. Of the original four-tower complex, two outer towers and the stair tower in the inner courtyard remain.

In 1498, the castle was owned by Hans Fuchs von Bimbach and Hermann von Seinsheim. Later, it passed entirely to the Fuchs family, whose coat of arms, restored in 2005, can be seen at the entrance. In 1643, the manor came to Hans Wolf von Wolfsthal as a dowry of Amalie Magdalena Fuchs von Bimbach. Her son Philipp Gaston Graf Wolf von Wolfsthal, who built Schloss Zeilitzheim, inherited it. The weather vane adorning the spire in the castle's inner courtyard comes from Philipp von Wolfsthal; it is inscribed with the year 1682 and Philipp's monogram. On it appears the wolf from the Wolfsthal coat of arms. As Philipp von Wolfsthal left no heir, the lineage died out with him in 1717.
