Nickern Castle, a building in the southeast of Dresden, traces its origins back to a 12th-century moated castle. The complex has been reshaped multiple times.

History+

The beginnings of Nickern Castle lie in a 12th-century moated castle owned by the Karasse family. Later, the estate passed to the Ziegler family, who also owned Lockwitz Castle. In 1511, the Alnpeck family acquired the castle and had it converted into a Renaissance castle. Another transformation into rural Baroque style took place in 1693 under Hans von Bose. The castle received its tower in 1870. After the expropriation of the last owner in 1945, apartments were established within the castle. A fire in 1960 caused damage, and in the 1980s, the castle housed club rooms.
