Nieder-Wiesen Castle

Schloss Nieder-Wiesen is a former moated castle; however, today no water flows in the moat. The moated castle was built in 1722 by the Barons of Hunolstein, who helped the region gain prestige and prosperity through mercury mining. Today, the small castle with its baroque garden is privately owned. Allegorical depictions of the four seasons can still be found on the stucco ceiling in the former reception hall. The former stable, with its cross vault, now serves as a ballroom (available for event rentals).
