In Rhineland-Palatinate, Nieder-Wiesen Castle, once a moated castle, now a Baroque ensemble. Although the moat is now dry, the complex of the Barons of Hunolstein, who resided here in the 18th century.

The construction of Nieder-Wiesen Castle took place in 1722. The builders were the Barons of Hunolstein, a family that gained wealth and prestige through mercury mining in the region. The castle served as their residence.
