Niederfladnitz Castle

The first documented mentions of an Otto de Vlednitzer date back to 1279. In 1425, Duke Albrecht V transferred the dominion of Kaja, which included Niederfladnitz, to Ulrich von Eyczing. At the beginning of the 16th century, the Eyczing family moved their main residence from Kaja Castle to Niederfladnitz and expanded the local manor for this purpose, though they primarily viewed the castle as an administrative building. Through inheritance, Niederfladnitz passed to the Trautson family in 1615, who also maintained the castle's administrative function. In 1775, the Auersperg family became owners of the Kaja dominion and Niederfladnitz Castle through another inheritance.
