Niederleis Castle

Niederleis Castle was first documented in 1310. The current appearance of the building originated in the 16th century. In the 17th century, the estate came into the possession of Heiligenkreuz Abbey, leading to structural changes. Abbot Michael Schnabel acquired the property in 1651. Stonemasons from Kaisersteinbruch also worked for Heiligenkreuz Abbey, creating pieces for Niederleis Castle. Invoices from 1655 to 1657 in the abbey archives confirm works by the brothers Ambrosius and Giorgio Regondi. A confirmation from 1682 mentions the payment of Master Ambros Ferrethi for a fountain in Niederleis, although the work might have been completed years earlier.

Niederleis Castle is located in the municipality of Niederleis in the Mistelbach district of Lower Austria, Austria. It stands at an elevation of approximately 268 meters above sea level.
