Niederpöring Castle

The former Hofmark Castle in Niederpöring lies dreamily in a park by the Isar and today houses the administration of the municipalities of Oberpöring, Otzing and Wallerfing. The noble seat has been documented since the 12th century and was built by the Counts of Hals. Around 1690, Baron Franz Ignaz von Pinzenau had the castle rebuilt. In 1848, the castle burned down and was subsequently rebuilt.
The portal with its grand staircase is remarkable, but the interiors are also stately: high vaulted ceilings and a beautiful tiled stove in red and green draw the visitor's eye. Also worth seeing are the adjacent late Romanesque church with its mighty defensive tower and the baroque pilgrimage church Maria Bürg.
