Nippenburg Castle, a historic manor house in Schwieberdingen, Baden-Württemberg, was built in the 17th century near the older Nippenburg castle ruin. It now serves as a private residence and a golf club.

History+

The original castle complex, the Nippenburg, was built for military purposes in the 11th century by a local noble family and first documented in 1160. It is the oldest castle in the Stuttgart region. The castle was expanded several times, including a Zwinger in the 14th century and an outer bailey with a barn in the 15th century. With the development of new weapon technologies, castles lost their protective function.
