Nussdorf Castle

The origins of the present castle date back to the 15th century, when a predecessor building stood on the same site. This already included a tower to the north and farm buildings to the south, surrounded by a castle garden. In the late 19th century, specifically from 1878, the then owner Richard Freiherr von Reischach, Lord Chamberlain to Queen Olga of Württemberg, initiated extensive new construction. Initially, the farm buildings and the south tower were built. Nine years later, the actual castle was rebuilt according to plans by the Stuttgart architectural firm Eisenlohr & Weigle. At the same time, the Kleine Schlössle (Small Castle) was built opposite, a Romanesque-style building with Gothic and Renaissance decorative elements.
