Obenhausen Castle

The origins of the castle lie in a medieval moated castle, which in 1504, along with the lordship of Weißenhorn, passed from the Lords of Neuffen to the Habsburgs. The latter pledged the property to the Ulm patricians Roth. The core of the current building dates back to the 16th century and was erected by the Augsburg patricians von Paumgarten. After a renovation under the Fuggers in 1571, the castle was sold to Roggenburg Abbey, which shortly thereafter resold it to Rottenbuch Abbey. A reconstruction took place in the first half of the 18th century. From 1744, Buxheim Charterhouse was the owner until the castle fell to the Counts of Ostein after secularization. In 1809, Baron von Verger acquired the estate, before it passed to the Counts Moy de Sons in 1873, who are still the owners today.
