The construction of Oberdiessbach Castle took place between 1666 and 1668. It was built as a country residence for Albrecht von Wattenwyl, a colonel in French service under King Louis XIV. The castle was designed in the late French Renaissance style and remains to this day in the possession of the von Wattenwyl family.
