Oberdolling Castle

The place is first mentioned in 1078 as "Tollingen". It is uncertain whether Dollinger, celebrated around 930 in Regensburg as the victor over a giant "Hun" (probably Hungarian), had his ancestral seat here. The first documented owner of the moated castle was Ulrich von Mendorf in 1352. In 1385, a Petz von Tolling sold his possessions to the Ingolstadt citizen Seifried der Meilinger. The next owner was Leonhard Ramelsteiner zu Loch und Aichenhausen. In 1427, Ulrich Baiersdorfer (from Baiersdorf near Riedenburg) acquired a dwelling in "Tolling" with possessions in Ober- and Unterdolling, Theißing and Kasing; in 1436 he bought the villages of Pettling and Pleiling in addition. Oberdolling was first referred to as a Hofmark in 1442. In 1503 it came to Urban Hohenecker (Hohenacker), then around 1524 to the judge of Vohburg, Jobst Muffel (von Ernreuth), who enlarged the lordship with the Hofmark Tholbath. In 1606, Hieronymus Auer von Pullach became the owner. From his sons, the Hofmark was bought by the Gerolfing administrator Bernhart Bartenhauser. After bankruptcy proceedings, the Hofmark was acquired in 1649 by the Jesuit College Ingolstadt for 12,000 guilders, who had the castle, which had burned down in the Thirty Years' War, rebuilt. In 1692, the Jesuits exchanged the Hofmark Oberdolling for the Hofmark Oberhaunstadt with Franz Philipp Freiherr von und zu Hegnenberg, called Dux (tombs in the parish church of Oberdolling). In 1821, the state dissolved the Hofmark, and in 1830, the castle estate with its brewery passed into peasant hands. The Foerster family had the castle, which burned down in 1931, rebuilt in its present form by the Ingolstadt architect K R. Uhlmann.
