Obergriesbach Castle

Obergriesbach Castle is located in Obergriesbach in the district of Aichach-Friedberg (Bavaria).

Ludlof von Hahnreith built a castle and a St. Stephanus Chapel in Obergriesbach in 1124. In 1468, Wigulaeus von Weichs took over Obergriesbach Castle (see gravestones in the parish church of St. Stephan) and in 1730, Imperial Countess Marie Violante Theresia von Thurn und Taxis bought the Hofmark. Since 1831, the Affing Barons von Gravenreuth have been the owners of the Hofmark (see coat of arms in the church) and the castle was mostly used as a widow's residence.

The former castle (forester's house) is an elongated hip-roofed building from the first half of the 18th century (external appearance early 20th century). The associated farm building, an elongated mansard-roofed building, dates from the early 19th century.
