In the Styrian Thermal Region, Obermayerhofen Castle now serves as an exclusive castle hotel. The estate has a history, evolving from a simple farmstead to its current hotel status.

History+

The origins of Obermayerhofen Castle lie in a fortified farmstead that developed into a knight's seat. The first documented mention dates back to 1315, when Heinrich Mayerhofer, Bishop of Gurk, was named as its owner. In 1377, the Teuffenbach family acquired the property and expanded the estate over a period of more than 200 years. In the early 16th century, the castle suffered destruction due to Turkish incursions. Servaz von Teuffenbach reunited the property and had the castle rebuilt in 1574.
