Early Mentions and Ownership

Schloss Obermönsheim (also known as Schloss Hohengeissberg) was first mentioned as early as 1340. Later, the castle was owned by the von Rieppur family. In 1650, a renovation took place. From 1787-1918, the castle was owned by the von Phull-Rieppur family. In 1918, the castle burned down and was subsequently rebuilt by Nicolai Freiherr von Gaisberg-Schöckingen. Norman von Gaisberg currently manages the forest around Mönsheim. Freiherr Eduard von Phull-Rieppurr died at Schloss Obermönsheim.
