History of the Building+

Oberrot is one of the oldest communities in the Limpurger Land, probably dating back to a Frankish foundation around the year 650. The place was first mentioned in a document in 788 as "Raodhaha". For several centuries, Oberrot was ruled by the knightly Lords of Rot. The nobles initially resided in a castle, the so-called Schlossbuckel, and later, befitting their status, in the still-preserved moated castle from 1290 in the center of the village.
