In the district of Obersalwey within the municipality of Eslohe, in the Hochsauerlandkreis, stands Obersalwey Castle. This estate is also known as Haus Obersalwey.

History+

The origins of Obersalwey Castle date back to approximately 1540, when the structure was first built. Until 1908, it was owned by the noble family von Schade. After a fire caused damage in 1834, the von Schade family initiated the reconstruction of the complex. Following the von Schades, the von Landsberg-Velen family took ownership of the estate and held it until World War II. Subsequently, it passed into the possession of the Counts von Spee, who established their forestry administration there.
