Oberstockstall Castle

The castle's origins trace back to the Middle Ages, when a farmstead of the Diocese of Passau stood on this site. In the mid-16th century, specifically in 1548, this farmstead was expanded into a manorial seat by Canon Christoph Trenbähk. In the early 17th century, the castle underwent a northern extension, and in the late 17th century, additional economic wings were added. In the 18th century, it served as the administrative seat of the Passau Cathedral Chapter. A sensational discovery occurred in 1980, when a 16th-century alchemist's laboratory containing over 1000 objects was found.
