Around 1600, the castle was built by Heinrich von Neuhausen. From 1639, it was owned by the Barons of Ulm zu Erbach. In 1652, the castle was destroyed by a lightning strike. In 1680, it was rebuilt by Baron Gall von Ulm zu Erbach.
