Obersulmetingen Castle
History+
Around 1600, the castle was built by Heinrich von Neuhausen. From 1639, it was owned by the Barons of Ulm zu Erbach. In 1652, the castle was destroyed by a lightning strike. In 1680, it was rebuilt by Baron Gall von Ulm zu Erbach. In 1699, the lordship and the unfinished castle were sold to Ochsenhausen Abbey. In 1725, the castle was demolished and rebuilt in its current form by Coelestin Frener, Abbot of Ochsenhausen. In 1803, ownership changed to the Imperial Princes of Metternich-Winneburg. In 1805, the castle was sold to the Princes of Thurn und Taxis.
