Oberviehhausen Castle

A lowland castle was first documented in 1435. The property frequently changed hands. Early owners included the Chamerauer and Hadamar von Laaber, followed by the Reisachers from 1435. Around 1570, Leonhard Sauerzapf was lord of the Hofmark, and from 1600, the Barons von Rosenbusch took over. The Lords von Wolfstein were also among the owners. During the Thirty Years' War, the castle suffered destruction by the Swedes. It was not until 1681 that Franz Wilhelm Rosenbusch had it rebuilt as a small castle. After the extinction of the Rosenbusch line in 1777, the Hofmark Viehhausen fell to Franz von Lerchenfeld-Brennberg.
