Schloss Oberwaltersdorf+
Geschichte+

When the castle was originally built is unknown. In 1628, Johann Balthasar I von Hoyos acquired the dominion of Oberwaltersdorf. In 1683, the castle was rebuilt, and in 1770, it was expanded and renovated. In 1898, Karl Fürst von Trautmansdorff, who had rendered great services to intellectual life and landscape conservation, sold the estate and Schloss Oberwaltersdorf to Princess Esperance and Prince Alexander zu Solms-Braunfels. In 1920, Oskar Willheim, who came from Hungary, acquired the entire property. In 1994, Frank Stronach acquired the castle along with the manor house, distillery, and part of the associated agricultural estate.
