Oelber Castle

The origins of Oelber Castle date back to the 12th century, when a moated castle stood on this site. Around 1580, extensive renovations transformed the complex into a Renaissance castle. The von Cramm family, who had owned the property since the late 13th century, initially shared ownership with other noble families. During the Thirty Years' War, the castle was occupied by Tilly's troops in 1626 and later devastated by Danish forces. It was not until 1771 that the ownership within the von Cramm family was finally settled, making them the sole owners ever since. In the 19th century, the castle underwent further renovations, including the redesign of the east wing and the raising of the stair tower.
