Oelzschau Castle is located in the Oelzschau district of Rötha in the Leipzig district, Saxony, Germany. It is situated at an elevation of approximately 136 meters above sea level.

History+

The first documented mention of Oelzschau as a manorial seat dates back to 1265 in connection with Albertus de Olschicowe. In the 14th century, ownership passed to the von Zehmen family, who held it with minor interruptions until the 18th century. In 1448, Conrad von Zehmen received the electoral fiefs for the outwork, village, and church benefice of Oelzschau and Kemlitz. During the Thirty Years' War, Oelzschau suffered severe destruction by Swedish troops in 1642.
