Oesterholz Castle in Oesterholz, Lippe, once served as a hunting lodge and now fulfills a special function.

History+

The origins of Oesterholz Castle date back to the late 16th century when Count Simon VI commissioned its construction as a hunting lodge. In the mid-17th century, the estate was expanded by Hermann Adolf with additional buildings. These extensions did not last long, as they were dismantled around 1770. The materials recovered were then reused for the construction of the 'Zur Rose' spa house in Bad Meinberg.
