Offendorf Castle

Around 1440, Offendorf was owned by the Geben von Hagenhill, who had their ancestral seat in Hagenhill south of Altmannstein and at times served as the caretaker of Altmannstein. The Trautskirchen were owners of the Hofmark in 1550. Around 1590, it belonged to the administrator of the neighboring Schamhaupten monastery, the Noble von Wemding. The Donnersberger, who held the Hofmark Offendorf from 1607 to 1640, erected the current castle in 1612 in place of the "previous ancient" one; the coats of arms of the Donnersberger and Puchberg on the late Renaissance portal point to the builders. In 1642, the castle was owned by the Schnedt, and until 1660 by Wolfgang von Müller. The Ingolstadt professor of law Georg Widmont was the castle owner from 1668 to 1727. The next lords of the castle were the von Ress (Stress), from whom the Hoppenbichl inherited the Hofmark Offendorf. Josef Franz Xaver von Hoppenbichl, lord of the castle since 1777, became one of the forefathers of the Agricultural Association in Bavaria through the founding of the "Churbayerische Landwirtschaftliche Gesellschaft" (Electoral Bavarian Agricultural Society).

In the former castle chapel, now the Offendorf Expositurkirche (chapel of ease), on the right side, there is the tombstone of Monika von Hoppenbichl, the last lady of the castle from this family, who died in 1803. Through inheritance, the castle and estate passed to the baronial family von Schacky auf Schönfeld, who also owned Neuenhinzenhausen Castle near Altmannstein (family crypt of the Schacky in front of the aforementioned church). In 1884, the family sold the castle to Nikolaus Daller. His granddaughter Centa Stadler, née Daller, and Wilhelm Stadler are today the owners of the castle.
