Oldershausen Castle

The origins of Oldershausen Castle date back to the 19th century. In 1859, the first construction phase was completed according to designs by Conrad Wilhelm Hase. An expansion followed in 1877, when Burchard and Cuno von Oldershausen had the estate supplemented with a side wing, a portal, and a terrace, this time based on plans by Edwin Oppler. The von Oldershausen family inhabited the castle until the end of World War II. Subsequently, it served British occupation troops, later displaced persons, and then housed a sanatorium for lung diseases.
