Oldershausen Castle

In Oldershausen stands the castle of the von Oldershausen family, which was built in the 19th century as a brick building according to plans by Conrad Wilhelm Hase. The first construction phase was completed in 1859. In 1877, Burchard von Oldershausen and his son Cuno had the castle extended with a side wing, a portal, and a terrace system according to plans by the master builder Edwin Oppler. The von Oldershausen family lived there until the end of the Second World War. Afterwards, the castle was confiscated by the British occupation forces for their troops and later served as accommodation for displaced persons. Subsequently, a sanatorium for lung diseases was housed in the building. Until 1986, it was used as a rehabilitation facility for mentally and physically disabled children. Since 1987, the property has been vacant. Later attempts to house a retirement home there were not approved. Currently, the castle is in private ownership and is decaying, as is the surrounding area.

Manor Chapel

In the village, there was already a chapel in the Middle Ages, which was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. In 1706, a new chapel was built in the castle park on the manor. It had a tower and was constructed with half-timbering in the upper part. It was later destroyed. The current chapel was built on the same spot and equipped with the organ from the Kalefeld church, which was demolished in 1870. It has no tower and belongs to the parish of Willershausen-Oldershausen-Westerhof.
